Kickstarter Campaign Grader: Score Your Page Out of 100

Kickstarter Campaign Grader: Score Your Page Out of 100

Most campaigns that struggle on launch day had the warning signs weeks earlier: a list that was too small for the goal, a video that took too long to show the product, or ten reward tiers where five would have sold more. This grader checks your campaign against the benchmarks we publish, so you can fix the gaps before you launch.

Quick answer

Answer 16 questions about your pre-launch list, video, rewards, visuals and page copy. You get a score out of 100, a score for each area, a day-one forecast and your top 3 fixes straight away. The full report with every fix and an example is free with your email.

How the score works

The score adds up five areas. Pre-launch traction carries the most weight because it decides launch day, and launch day decides most campaigns.

What the grader checks
AreaPointsWhat it checksBenchmark from
Pre-launch traction30List size against your goal, reservation rate, length of the pre-launchCampaign plan, benchmarks, pre-launch length
Video20Length (under 2 minutes), and whether the product appears working in the first 5 secondsVideo strategy
Rewards20Number of tiers, early bird, a highlighted hero tierReward strategy, board game tiers
Visuals15Product shown at the top, proof for every claim, one image per tierPage copywriting
Page copy15Scannable paragraphs, a specific risks section, an FAQPage copywriting, page conversion

A score of 80 or more means the campaign is ready to launch. Between 60 and 79 it is close, with a few fixes worth making first. Below 60 the campaign carries real risk, and the fixes are worth doing before you set a launch date.

The day-one forecast

The forecast takes your list size, your reservations and the price of your main tier, and estimates what your list is likely to pledge. It uses the conversion rates from our benchmarks: 5 to 10% of a full list backs, and 30 to 50% of people who paid a reservation do. It compares the result with the day-one target of 100% of your goal, which is what the campaigns we run usually reach. It is a planning estimate, not a promise.

What the grader cannot see

The grader scores your answers. It does not read your page, watch your video or judge whether the product itself is a good fit for crowdfunding. Two campaigns with the same score can still perform very differently because of the product, the price and the audience. If you want someone to look at the actual page, talk to an expert.

Frequently asked questions

Is the campaign grader free?

Yes. The score, the area scores, the forecast and the top 3 fixes are free without signing up. The full report is free too, and we ask for your email to send you a copy.

Does it work for Indiegogo and Gamefound?

Yes. The checks apply to any reward-based campaign. Board game and tabletop campaigns are scored against the tabletop benchmarks for reward tiers and reservations.

Can I use it before my page is finished?

Yes, and that is the best time. Answer with what you plan to do, then use the fixes to decide what to build next.

What happens with my answers?

Your score is calculated in your browser. If you ask for the full report, your answers and email reach our team so we can send it, and an AI model rewrites the fixes for your project without seeing your name or email. See our privacy policy.

Why do some benchmarks differ from other posts on this site?

Different posts cover different situations, such as tabletop games or high-ticket hardware. The grader uses one main post per area, and every fix links to the post it comes from.
